Lakshya Sen made up four points to beat Julien Carraggi and claim victory at La Chapelle Arena in 43 minutes of men’s singles Group L in Paris Olympics 2024 men’s singles Group L match play in Group L Men. From an uncertain start, Lakshya rallied hard and eventually took control by taking lead at first change of ends – then continued his dominance by attacking more effectively in game two, smashing some exquisite smashes en route to winning 21-19, 21-14 victory!

The match between the 18th and 52nd-ranked players was an intense contest with both players exchanging long rallies. The Indian, using excellent net play to maximize his height advantage and exploit every mistake by the Belgian, who struggled with his superior speed and reach; his precise shot placement also frustrated his opponent while full-stretch dives allowed them to regain momentum at key moments in the match.

Carraggi was struggling to regain his form as they battled it out at 19-19 in the final game, desperately dropping and net playing his way back into contention with some deft drops and smart net plays from Carraggi but ultimately fell to an Indian youngster’s clinical kills that propelled him into an early lead and ultimately finished off by winning six points consecutively in order to seal victory and seal off their match-up victory.

Lakshya faces reigning Asian champion Jonatan Christie in his final group match on Wednesday and must win it to advance into the pre-quarters. Lakshya has been consistently good this year and should fare well at this event.

2024 Olympic Games to take place at Stade de France will feature 104 sports, an increase from the last summer Olympic Games which had only 100 events.
